Nightingale and a Firestone Online Idle RPG content pack are the Epic Game Store‘s freebies for October 2. Based on their regular retail prices, these upcoming digital goodies will offer the equivalent of $129.98 in savings for Epic Games Store users.
Between September 18 and 25, Epic was giving away Project Winter and Samorost 2. The company’s latest promotion wrapped up moments ago, having been replaced with two other freebies: Eastern Exorcist and Jorel’s Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy.
As is typical for the transitional periods between two promotions, the start of the Epic Games Store’s September 25 giveaway also saw the company reveal its free offerings for next week, which will comprise Nightingale and yet another item bundle for the free-to-play idle RPG Firestone. The newly confirmed freebies will become available to claim on October 2, at 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET, with EGS users having exactly seven days to add them to their accounts.

What Is Nightingale?
Developed by Canadian studio Inflexion Games, Nightingale is an open-world Victorian survival game. It’s played in first person and offers a “gaslamp fantasy” take on the evergreen survival gameplay formula, which combines exploration, combat, resource gathering, and crafting. It can be played either solo or in online co-op, allowing players to explore various portal-linked “Fae Realms.”
Nightingale launched in February 2024 as an early access title on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. It remains in early access 19 months later, exceeding the 9–12 month timeframe that Inflexion Games initially cited for the period. However, the developer was always upfront about the estimate being flexible, heavily influenced by player feedback and its own progress on the game. Since release, Nightingale has received regular updates, including ten patches in 2024 and three more in 2025. Although the early access version of the game holds a “Weak” rating on OpenCritic with an average score of 59, its player impressions are significantly more favorable, reflected in nearly 10,000 “Mostly Positive” user reviews on Steam.
While waiting for the October 2 giveaway to kick off, Epic Games Store users can claim Jorel’s Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy and Eastern Exorcist. The former is a humorous point-and-click adventure inspired by Brazilian animated series Jorel’s Brother, whereas the latter is a side-scrolling ARPG from Chinese studio Wildfire Games.
